A pesar de la crisis económica y financiera que vivimos, con una predicción nada aventurera de 4,5 millones de parados en España, en el Erasmus MC, en concreto en el Thoraxcentrum, todavía están las puertas abiertas para anestesiólogos que quieran hacer carrera en cirugía cardiotorácica y cardiología intervencionista. Erasmus Medical Centre Rotterdam, Thorax Centre

The Division of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology, Erasmus MC provides anaesthesia services for OR activities and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care. The case load currently consists of 900 open heart cases/year, including anaesthesia for transplant, neonatal/paediatric and major aortic surgery, and a strong thoracic program, including lung transplantation. Due to the planned increased case load (up to 1100 open heart cases/year) the division is looking for young enthusiastic certified anaesthesiologists and anaesthesiologist-intensivists who wish to be at the forefront of cardiothoracic medicine. Responsibilities outside the OR will include anaesthesia for heart catheterisation procedures (LVAD, etc) and electrophysiological procedures in all age groups. TOE is widely available and used in all cardiac cases. In addition, there is ample opportunity for clinical research.

Erasmus MC is the largest university hospital in The Netherlands. Our hospital is the tertiary referral centre with the largest therapeutic range and highest pathology index in the country.
